TOON STAR ROB TELLS OF LITTLE BOY’S ACCIDENT AT FUNFAIR
Reporter TOON star Rob Elliot has today thanked the medics who treated his little boy after an accident at a fun fair.
Three-year-old Max broke his arm when he fell from an inflatable while playing with his cousins at the Whitley Bay attraction.
The frightened youngster was treated at the scene by waiting paramedics before being taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle.
Goalkeeper Elliot admits that despite being used to witnessing injuries on the football pitch, the sight of his own son in agony was hard to take.
And he has today told of his gratitude for the paramedics, doctors and nurses that helped put little Max at ease as his arm was put in plaster.
Rob said: “It was scary for us as parents because it was the first time we had seen him like that.
“He is our firstborn, and it was the first time he has had to go to hospital. But the whole atmosphere at the hospital was fantastic.
“As parents we were really worried, and Max was scared, but it was so reassuring for us. We couldn’t have asked for more.”
Rob and his wife Robyn, both 31, took Max to the Easter Family Funfair, on The Links in Whitley Bay, on Good Friday.
The little boy had been playing on an inflatable, designed for children his age, when he jumped off and landed awkwardly.
Rob said he knew instantly that his boy would be badly hurt when he saw the angle at which he fell.
“As he jumped down, he landed awkwardly,” Rob explained. “I knew straight away he had done something bad. I could see in his face that he was in pain. I was a bit panicked.
“Because I have seen a lot of injuries at football, I knew before he hit the ground that he would have hurt himself really badly.”
