Flat boarded up after arrest in Nikki Allan murder case

-

A flat has been left boarded up after police scoured it for clues in a bid to solve the murder of Sunderland schoolgirl Nikki Allan.

Earlier this month, a man was arrested at an address on Middleton Walk, in Stockton, in connection with the seven-year-old’s death, 25 years ago.

Northumbria Police released him under investigation and no charges have been brought.

Now, the Teesside flat has been boarded up.

According to neighbours, police officers have returned to the flat several times since the arrest on Tuesday, April 17.

They say it had been daubed with graffiti since news of the arrest broke.

Onesaid she believes the property has been empty ever since.

“I’ve seen police come back a few times,” she said. “There’s no-one in now, it’s boarded-up.”

She said the news had left the community on the town centre estate reeling.

“I feel so angry that the poor mother has been waiting 25 years for justice for her daughter,” she added. “I really hope they get answers soon.”

Nikki was found stabbed to death in a derelict building in Sunderland after vanishing from her nearby home in 1992.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said “inquiries remain ongoing”.
