ELLINGTON completed their league campaign with a vital 3-1 win over Stobswood Welfare in this top-ofthe-table clash.
Adam Bains struck twice for Ellington along with Jordan Lashley with Jeff Henderson scoring for Stobswood, who must now win all five of their remaining matches to claim the title.
Earlier in the week they had seen off Newcastle Medicals 8-0, Jake Baker scoring four times, Phil Airey netting twice and Phillip Tweddle and Jeff Henderson bagging one each.
Morpeth Town Seniors continued their strong finish to the season with two wins in the week.
Goals from Nick O’Neil and Jack Freeman took them past Ponteland United Reserves 2-0, while they had nine different goalscorers in their victory over Wideopen and District A – O’Neil and Freeman again, Liam Parkin, Cole Brunton, Ross Donnelly, Will Pritchard, Michael Bray, Jack Stratford and Michael Carr.
Jesmond completed their away fixtures with a 3-1 triumph at Newcastle Chemfica Amateurs.
Adam Duckworth, Louis Tiplady and Alex Cole notched their goals, Aladdin Adda countering for Chemfica who had drawn 2-2 with Forest Hall YPC earlier in the week.
Gosforth Bohemian Reserves and West Jesmond shared six goals and the points at Benson Park.
Dave Parker, Liam Eltringham and Jack Keillor netted for Bohs, Marc Cowley bagging a brace for Jesmond and Robbie Wilkinson earning them the draw.
Haltwhistle Jubilee’s magnificent run in the Northumberland FA Minor Cup ended as they went down to a very strong Killingworth YPC side in the final.
