Eccles ends on a real high as Steelmen hit Washington for eight

-

MICHAEL Sweet and captain Dan Craggs both scored hat-tricks as Consett rounded off Mark Eccles’ managerial tenure in fine style.

The Steelmen hit already-relegated Washington for eight at Belle View just hours after it was announced that Eccles was to leave the club.

Jordan Lavery and David Dowson got Consett’s other goals in their 8-1 win and helped his side move into the top six of the Division One table.

Stockton Town continued their preparations for the FA Vase final with a 3-0 win at Seaham Red Star. Jamie Owens, James Ward and Sonni Coleman got the goals for Town.

In Division Two, Hebburn Town failed to build on their 7-0 hammering of Crook Town 24 hours earlier, losing at home against Tow Law Town.

Goals from Lewis Teasdale and Scott Oldfield were enough to give the Lawyers 2-1 win on South Tyneside. Channon North had halved the deficit but the Hornets couldn’t find an equaliser and also had to contend with a red card shown to Monday’s four-goal hero Paul Chow.

Richard Walker’s goal was enough to give Northallerton Town a 1-0 win at Durham City, moving them above Hebburn and into second in the table.

Jack Foalle’s brace wasn’t enough to prevent Bedlington Terriers from losing 3-2 at home to Esh Winning.

Callum Boakes and two goals from Connor Halpin helped Esh to all three points at Welfare Park.
