BY CAR: The A189 Killingwor­th Road in Newcastle is closed between West Farm Avenue and A191 Benton Park Road/Freeman Road.

The A184 Felling Bypass either side of Heworth roundabout in Gateshead is down to a single lane as a result of the ongoing roadworks.

Speed restrictio­ns are in place due to roadworks on the A19 and A1058 at the Silverlink roundabout.

One lane will be closed due to roadworks on A193 The Links near Eastbourne Gardens until May 10.

Temporary traffic lights are in place on A1018 Sunderland Road in both directions near B1299 Moor Lane BY BUS: Bus stops on Cherry Blossom Way and Nissan Way in Washington are out of use. Routes 56 and 56A are diverted from Washington Road via Spire Road (Peel retail park).

Station Road, South Shields will be closed for up to eight days. Services 8 and E2 towards the town centre will be diverted via Tudor Road and Commercial Road and then the normal route after the Coronation Street roundabout. BY METRO There will be no trains either direction between St James - Monkseaton all day on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 May, to allow for renewal of overhead power lines and modernisat­ion of the Byker viaduct.

A replacemen­t bus service, the number 900, will be calling at or close to all stations from Monument to Monkseaton, some late night services from Monument will continue to Longbenton (alighting only after Monkseaton to allow people to complete their journeys without changing to a Metro train).
