Club celebrate their Top result

A 4-2 VICTORY at Oxhill Central saw Consett Top Club jump into third spot in Division One.

With Dan Parker scoring twice and Liam Radbourne and Michael Hannant one apiece, they picked up three points against an Oxhill side who had Dan Maddison netting twice.

In midweek, South Moor Sports piled more misery on bottom club Consett Demi courtesy of a 6-2 scoreline.

Jamie Leathard and Kyle Taylor hit braces, while Keiron Taylor and Dean Jones also notched.

David McDine and Alan Croudace found the net for Demi.

The top three in Division Two triumphed as the title race continues to heat up.

Consett The Barn remain favourites for the championsh­ip as they remain four points clear following their 4-2 victory over Burnopfiel­d Sun Inn. Rob McConnell notched twice and was joined on the scoresheet by Dan Pyke and Liam Dempsey, while Steven Dewhurst and Phil Reed netted for Sun.

Second-placed Craghead Legion took a giant step towards promotion as they defeated fellow candidates Winlaton Crown and Cannon 2-1.

Liam Orr and Chris Wood grabbed the goals, Chris Holt replying for Winlaton.

Strikes from Jack Newton, Jack Barron, John Lawson and Mark Stephenson enabled third-placed Lanchester Cricket Club to beat Stanley RAFA 4-1, Jake Milligan hitting the consolatio­n for the basement side.

Two goals from Nathan Johnson and one each from Nathan Coates and Sam Tyers helped Consett Snooker Club to a 4-2 victory over Stanley Ball Alley, who had Ben Harvey and Mark Longstaff on target.

Annfield Plain Demi lifted the Division Three Iveston Bowl as they enjoyed bragging rights over their village rivals.

They were rampant as they met neighbours Annfield Plain Cricket Club in the final, hitting double figures as they went on to record a resounding 10-1 victory.

Paul Oxley and Jack Watson both hit hat-tricks, Jake Hall bagging a brace.

They were joined on the scoresheet by Dan Punton and Colin Snailham. Luke Rowe with a consolatio­n for the Cricket Club.
