MARKSE United are the new Northern League Division One leaders after a 1-0 win over Guisboroug­h Town.

Andrew Stephenson’s goal secured the victory which lifted them top on goal difference with three games in hand on Morpeth.

Sunderland RCA’s terrific season continued after their 2-0 win at Newton Aycliffe pushed them to fourth place. Dylan Elliott broke the deadlock on 19 minutes. RCA were then denied a second three minutes from half-time as Jack McLaren saved a penalty.

The visitors’ second followed on the hour-mark as Luke Page wrapped up the win.

Four goals from Martyn Coleman earned Penrith a vital 5-0 win at Newcastle Benfield as their hopes of starving off relegation increased.

Coleman collected his hat-trick in the first-half. He then added a fourth on 74 minutes.

Dunston UTS won for the first time in five matches with four early second-half goals putting the hosts out of sight. UTS had a narrow 2-1 lead at the break after cancelling out Chris Winn’s opener. Dale Burrell secured his hat-trick alongside a Mark Fitzpatric­k brace and a goal from Ben Pollock.

Billingham Synthonia achieved their first win since November after holding on to a 3-2 victory.

In Division Two, Blyth AFC need just a point to secure promotion after coming from behind to beat Brandon United 3-1.

Whickham’s win at Thornaby propelled them back into a promotion spot with Hebburn Town and Northaller­ton Town not in action. Andrew Bulford’s penalty in the second-half proved to be the winner in a crucial win for the Lang Jacks after Thornaby hit back late on.

Heaton Stanningto­n’s outside promotion hopes suffered a blow after Connor Winter’s only goal of the game won it for Willington.

Ten men Darlington RA moved out of the bottom two with a 1-0 home victory over Ryton and Crawcrook Albion.

Daryl Donnelly scored a lastminute equaliser for Jarrow FC as they shared the spoils at Crook Town.
