COMEDIAN Jason Manford was forced to end his Newcastle show early after a young woman in the audience collapsed.

The fan took ill 15 minutes before the end of his stand-up gig at Newcastle City Hall on Wednesday night.

Paramedics, who were also in the audience, rushed to the woman’s aid after she collapsed.

Jason, who is currently touring the UK, thanked the emergency services on Twitter and apologised to his fans for cutting the show short.

The 36-year-old tweeted: “So sorry the show had to finish slightly early tonight folks.

“The paramedics are still in the auditorium working on the lady who collapsed. Hoping she’s going to be alright.”

He added that, due to free tickets being given to the NHS, there was an “abundance of helpers”.

A second tweet said: “I popped out to thank the ambulance staff and she had actually come to and we had a lovely chat, where she was very apologetic! Bless her.

“Thanks to everyone who helped and for the audience being so cool and giving her some dignity by shuffling out quietly.”

Jason then asked fans to make sure they carry ID if they are coming to his shows alone so emergency services can get in touch with their emergency contact.

One fan replied: “Surreal going from belly laughing to worry in a moment. So pleased she’s OK.”

Another said: “You made the right decision. Excellent show, really hard circumstances. Thoughts are with the lady who collapsed.”
