SIXTY-FOUR players took part in North East Darts’ first Grand Slam Pairs Competitio­n at North Shields’ Marden Residents Associatio­n.

Victory went to Harry Robinson and Dave Gradwell - who picked up £400 for their efforts - with Kevin McDine and Ryan Joyce runners-up.

■■ASPIRING football coaches in Northumber­land have an opportunit­y to join the FA’s coaching pathway when a new FA Level One in Coaching Football course kicks off.

Beginning at Goals Newcastle on Tuesday, June 5 , the nine-day course will provide an insight into the game, how it is played and how coaches can support the developmen­t of future players.
