Marske United in perfect position to secure unlikely title win

- By MARK CARRUTHERS

MARSKE United can round off their Mission Impossible with a positive result in their home game against Newcastle Benfield tomorrow.

The Seasiders are on the brink of securing an unlikely Northern League Division One title win and avoiding a defeat against Benfield would see Carl Jarrett’s side secure a second title in three years.

Their task is made tougher by the absence of Matthew Bell, Andy Ramsbottom and Leon Carling.

Jarrett also has doubts over the fitness of James Fairley and Gary Wood.

Benfield have a fully-fit squad, although player-manager Mark Convery is unlikely to be included after his appearance in the midweek home defeat against Penrith.

The Bonny Blues will look to build on that win at Sam Smith’s Park by taking another three points from their visit to Billingham Synthonia.

Dennis Knight is still suspended and misses now-relegated Jarrow Roofing’s home game against FA Vase Finalists Stockton Town.

Dunston UTS play for the first of three home games in five days when they entertain Guisborough Town and top four challengers Shildon welcome Ryhope CW to Dean Street.

Blyth AFC will play Division One football next season after securing promotion and their penultimate game of this campaign takes them to Tow Law Town.

Joint-managers Jon McDonald and Ian Skinner have a full squad available, but may make changes after facing a hectic schedule.

Injured duo Chris Emms and Andrew Shepherd could miss Northallerton Town’s home game against Willington.

Hebburn Town sit in third and they have a fully-fit and available squad for their game at Darlington RA.

A win for both Hebburn and Darlington RA would see Whickham drop out of the top three ahead of their final game against Heaton Stannington on Monday.

The Stan prepare for that trip to the Glebe with a visit to Chester-le-Street Town.

Club captain Chris Pearson is back in the Easington Colliery squad for their game at Durham City but a toe injury is expected to rule out Aidan Goodey.

Jarrow FC round off their first season as a Northern League club with a trip to Thornaby.

Aaron Kah and George Simpson return to the Jarrow squad but Darren Morton is an injury doubt.

Ahead of the game joint-manager Dave Bell praised his players for their recent efforts, saying: “These lads have been absolutely brilliant and have given everything on the pitch all season.”

Bottom of the table Alnwick Town make the long trip to Billingham Town and Bedlington Terriers are also on the road as they travel to Brandon United.
