Barrie’s knock just cannot be beaten as City triumph

HAMISH Barrie scored an unbeaten 50 as Durham City cruised to a 40-run victory against Philadelph­ia in the Durham Cricket Board Under-15 Central Division’s Ken Ferguson Memorial Trophy.

Batting first, City amassed 110-2 from their 20 overs as Tom Reynolds (21) and Gabriel MCall (20 not out) offered Barrie support.

Will Bland bagged the only wicket while Luke Robinson forced a run-out.

In reply, Philadelph­ia made 70-7 from 20 overs - Luke Robinson top-scoring with 20.

Eppleton need one win to reach the last four of the competitio­n following an eightwicke­t victory over Washington.

Washington won the toss and elected to bat, posting just 49 from 20 overs - Aidan O’Brien top-scoring with 12 for the Harraton side.

In reply, Eppleton chased down their target in 13.3 overs as Hollie Forsyth scored an unbeaten 22.

Hetton Lyons won the toss and inserted Chester-le-Street in their Trophy tie.

Lewis Kilkenny top-scored for the visitors with 34 not out, supported by Taylor Farrington with 27 as the Cestrians reached 97-4 from their 20 overs.

The Lyons endured a difficult start to their innings, losing five wickets for just 15 runs.

Ben McKinney and Ryan O’Connor then put on 40 for the next wicket before O’Connor was run out.

McKinney top-scored with 26 not out as Hetton completed their innings on 67-7.

Sebastian Hughes-Pinan was the pick of the Chester-le-Street bowlers, taking three wickets for seven runs.

Sacriston came away seven-wicket winners at Burnmoor after chasing down 93 in 18.5 overs. ■■JOE Robson (53 not out) and Ben Forster (39) led the way for Felling as they outgunned Marsden by 46 runs at Jack Clark Park in the Don Lyons Trophy.

Felling amassed 123-2 from their 20 overs with Daniel Snaith bagging 1-12.

In reply Marsden struggled to 54-5 but Matthew Thompson offered hope with 27 from 16 balls - including five fours.

However, 3-11 from Matthew Robinson ensured Marsden claimed the 20 points.

Sunderland were dominant winners over Boldon with a 10-wicket home victory. Boldon made 72 all out in 16 overs as skipper Ethan Elsworth top-scored with 28 - including five fours - while Oliver Pallas (13) and Jacob McCord (13) supported with the bat.

Matthew Heywood was the pick of the bowlers for Sunderland with Tom Bowman picking up 2-17. Joe Defty led the way retiring with 51 to see Sunderland home in 13 overs.

South Shields enjoyed a win over Whitburn to make it two from two in the group rounds.

After being inserted into bat, Shields posted 118-3 from 20 overs as skipper Ben Scott accumulate­d an unbeaten 51.

Whitburn could manage 61 in reply as Shields bagged five victims in their 20 overs, Ewan Jenkins (3-6) and Matthew Sheppard (2-8) picking up wickets.
