Tragic end for Aidan
WEATHERFIELD is set to be rocked by tragedy this week as Aidan takes his own life. Before the tragic turn of events, the factory boss attends his dad Johnny and Jenny’s leaving party.
When Sally tries to pass baby Susie to Aidan, Toyah panics and swoops in. As Aidan catches Toyah’s eye, she quickly looks away and he figures out that the tot is in fact his and Eva’s daughter.
He surprises Eva by visiting her at the cottage and then returns to the family party at the Rovers, where he is clearly in a troubled state of mind.
He heads back to his flat alone and breaks down crying.
Next morning, when Aidan fails to show up for work, Johnny thinks he’s slept in and lets himself into his son’s flat.
He finds a goodbye note and barges into the bathroom only to discover Aidan’s body. The Connors are left reeling when the police and paramedics confirm that his death was suicide.
As the news of his death spreads, Aidan’s friends and family begin to question why they had not noticed any signs that he was struggling to cope with problems in his life.
Elsewhere, it’s the week of David’s court case, and he’s struggling to cope with the enormity of the situation.
Emma confides in Maria about how distant he’s been towards her, and after Maria then confronts him, he tries to break off the relationship.
Later he announces his plan to attend court alone and kisses his children goodbye, aware that he might not be returning home for some time. However, he absconds and is later found in the urban garden by Shona, and eventually tells her exactly why he went off the rails.
Later, the police arrest him for failing to turn up for his trial.
Shona thinks now is the time to reveal what happened to him, but he swears her to secrecy.
That doesn’t, however, prevent her from accusing Josh of rape and promising to make sure he goes to jail for the crime.
