NOMINATION­S have opened for The FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards 2018.

The awards recognise the role grassroots leagues, clubs, volunteers and community projects play in promoting the game.

Categories include Coach of the Year, Community Project of the Year, Charter Standard Club of the Year, Supporter of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Young Volunteer of the Year.

The event is part of England Golf’s Get into Golf campaign which seeks to encourage more women to take up the sport. ■■KIELDER Yacht Club is holding a three-day open event from Friday until Sunday as part of the Royal Yachting Associatio­n’s Push The Boat out campaign. ■■THE Northumber­land FA will be staging an FA Level Three (UEFA) coaching course during the 2018/19 season.

Shields posted 119-6, Whitburn 123-4 in their reply. ■■DURHAM CIty Cricket Club is launching an All-Stars Cricket coaching programme for youngsters aged five to eight.
