THE clash between the top two went in favour of the leaders as Hazlerigg Victory claimed a 4-1 win over Newcastle Chemfica.

As a result, Chemfica slipped to third on goal difference after Killingworth YPC maintained their late push for the title with a 9-1 thumping of hosts Red Row Welfare.

Hazlerigg led at the break through Martin Soulsby’s effort and doubled their lead shortly after the restart through Richard Coulson.

Robson pulled one back but victory was sealed in the final quarter with strikes from Gallagher and Farndell, the gap between the top two now 14 points.

YPC, meanwhile, experienced a comfortable afternoon after going three goals up inside the first ten minutes as both Foster and Roper helped themselves to hat-tricks.

Stevenson and King also scored while Graham notched a secondhalf consolation for Red Row.

An Andy McBride brace helped Forest Hall to a 4-0 home victory over lowly Newcastle East End, Ryan Latimer and Kieran Crawford also notching.

Colin McLean struck twice for Hebburn Reyrolle in their 4-2 success at home to high-flying Felling Magpies.

Flood and Molloy netted in the second half while the visitors scored through Ryan Heron and Matthew Johnson.

One goal, around the hour, was enough for Cullercoats to prevail at Gosforth Bohemians, George Pickford finding the net.

It proved enough too for New Fordley who hosted Hexham, Jack Morris converting from the spot.

The game between Wallsend Boys Club and Cramlington Town finished 1-1, Grieveson and Gilbert on the mark.

Eight goals were shared as Seaton Burn drew 4-4 with Wallsend Community.

Chirnside struck an early double for the visitors, who kept themselves in the game with second-half counters from Hood and Johnson.

All four of the hosts’ efforts came in the second period, Addicott with a brace followed by two in the final five minutes from McCallum and Arnott. ■■WHEATLEY Hill retained the Durham Alliance Combination League title with a 5-2 victory against West Auckland Tunns finishing seven points clear at the top of the table.
