Saints Walk off with the silverware

SAINT Paul’s Ryhope defeated Consett St Patrick’s 4-2 to lift the Andy Walker Trophy.

Saint Patrick’s took the lead within three minutes from Peter Price - but 10 minutes later it was 1-1 when Ryan Mather converted from the penalty spot after a trip in the box.

Ten minutes later Callum Milne put Saint Paul’s 2-1 in front, which was the score at half time.

Anthony Young increased Saint Paul’s advantage to 3-1 within two minutes of the restart.

A wonder strike from 30 yards and inside the left post from Jack Malone put Saint Patrick’s back into the match.

On 61 minutes Dale Spence gave Saint Paul’s one hand on the trophy with what proved to be the final goal of the game.

Two one-on-ones saw Saint Paul’s goalkeeper keep out Consett as Ryhope as they held on to win.

The NECFL League Cup final featred North Shields Community Christians against Stockton Churches Portrack - the Christians triumphing 4-0.

The Christians had the ball in the net but the effort was ruled off for offside - and two minutes later Stockton hit the bar.

On 32 minutes the deadlock was broken by Scott Purcell.

In the second period Stockton came out the stronger but when an attack broke down in the 18yard box Conor Higgins went oneon-one with the goal keeper and made the score 2-0 on 56 minutes.

A similar situation arose ten minutes later with the same result as Purcell claimed his second goal.

The Teessiders were now pushing to get back in the game and the inevitable happened as Purcell completed his hat-trick for 4-0.

Two Premier Division fixture took place to complete the league programme.

Consett St Patrick’s gained a measure of revenge for their Andy Walker Trophy defeat by beating Saint Paul’s Ryhope 2-0.

Jack Malone and Paul McBride were the scorers for Consett.

Sunderland Samba recorded their fourth victory of the season, overcoming Jubilee Church Teesside 2-1 - Neil Atkinson and Nathan Dodd on target for the Wearsiders.
