Title hopefuls have to share the spoils

THE battle for the Division One title saw Thomas Wilson entertain Pelaw Grange Dogs last midweek.

The Wilson raced into a two-goal lead with strikes from Nathan Bailey and Chris Douglas.

However, the Dogs hit back and scored three times to take the lead thanks to goals from David Jeffers, Bri Allen and Jordan Stevens.

The Wilson then grabbed an equaliser through Michael Cook to take a share of the spoils.

Counters from Chris Neve, Alex Gasgoine and Micky Robson took Whickham Bay Horse to all three points in their 3-1 win over The Eagle. The visitors’ goal came from David Kennedy.

Gateshead Three Tuns were 3-0 victors at Teams Club.

Jak Charleswor­th bagged a brace with Keith Scott also registerin­g.

Rutherford prevailed 7-1 against Inter XI thanks to Alex Ford and Adam Sinclair both netting twice.

Adam Barras, Dan McAvoy and Karl Pyle were also on target for Rutherford.

On Thursday night in the Premier Division, Birtley RAOB were narrow 1-0 winners at Stormont Main.

Adam Berry claimed the allimporta­nt only goal of the game.

Belle Vue add the Premier Division Cup to their league winners’ trophy following a hard-fought 3-2 success against Fiddlers Three.

Liam Barnett and Gordon Hutchinson notched for Fiddlers but a Dylan Howourth strike, an Alex Francis penalty and an Adam Wilkinson finsh won it for Belle Vue.

Only two games were played on Sunday.

Fiddlers Three completed their Premier Division campaign with a 3-2 result at Crawcrook Albion.

Chris Jackson and Bryan Gilmore struck for The Albion but efforts from David Moat, Chris Laws and Karl Johnson meant Fiddlers finish edfifth.

In Division One, a Nathan Bailey goal was the difference between Saltwell SC and Thomas Wilson.

The result enabled The Wilson to return to the top of the table.

BLUCHER Blue Star Social completed the North East Sunday League season in style by defeating holders Amble Tavern 4-3 in the final of the Northumber­land FA Sunday Cup.

A midweek victory enabled Greenside to pip Blucher for the Premier Division Championsh­ip.
