NORTH Shields potter Craig Sexton defeated Whitley Bay’s Adam Park 3-0 to win the latest one-day pro-am event at Whitley Bay Snooker Centre.

Plate honours went to Wallsend’s John Slocome, who overcame Morpeth’s Gerry McNally 2-1.

■■TWEEDMOUTH Harrow face Wooler at Alnwick FC tonight (7pm) in the final of the Sportsworl­d North Northumber­land League’s League’s Anderson Cup.

■■MATCHES in the Dukes North East Premier Cricket League’s T20 Cup are staged tonight.

In Group A, Burnopfiel­d welcome Durham CA and Tynemouth take on Eppleton while in Group B Boldon host South North and Sacriston entertain Castle Eden. ■■PROPERTY firm Bradley Hall have sponsored the Morpeth Sevens rugby tournament for the third successive year.

The Mighty Peth (pictured above) were crowned champions of the tournament, held at Morpeth Rugby Club.

■■ALNMOUTH Golf Club is holding a fun day for women golfers on June 28 (6.45pm).

The event is in support of England Golf’s Get In To Golf campaign designed to attract more women into the sport.

■■WEARSIDE Wildcats Netball Club’s under-16 squad won the Showdown Shield in Paris, winning all of their matches.

The club will be holding training sessions at Sunderland AFC’s Beacon of Light on Tuesdays from June 5 (5.30-7pm).

■■TWO Sunderland College students have been selected for the England Colleges and England Schools national squads.

Sports student Thomas Kavangh and A-Level student Fraser Colling, part of the College’s Football Developmen­t Centre, were selected after trials at Lilleshall National Sports Centre and St George’s Park.
