When two become one, we’ll all be watching
DING, DONG the bells are going to chime. Yes, it’s the big day tomorrow, and while we might not be getting a bank holiday out of it (groan), the nation will certainly be celebrating.
Prince Harry marries actress Meghan Markle at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle at noon, and across the UK the bunting will be up, flags flown and glasses raised.
Whipping up the excitement tonight, Kirsty Young, Huw Edwards and Dermot O’Leary, inset, are reporting live from Windsor – where no doubt, thousands of well wishers will descend.
The presenters won’t be getting much sleep tonight. You will find them there tomorrow morning, too, pulling a night shift in the name of television.
For those of us who – quite sensibly – decided that the chaos of Windsor would be best avoided, the teams brings us the action from the heart of the Royal Wedding of the Year. On the eve of Harry and Meghan’s big day, the team will meet the people who are playing key roles and hear of their preparations for the big event. They will also be joined by some of the invited guests who share their excitement about attending such a special event. And there will be chat with the ever-increasing crowds. There will be lots to talk about – Meghan’s dress, jewellery, Harry’s ushers, the guest list, the ceremony, the procession, the cake, the speeches (will Meghan give one?), the flowers, the music, the honeymoon... we’re just grateful we didn’t have to plan any of it.
