OCEANS and Genetics won their firstround ties in the Just Sport Cup.

Whitley Bay looked to be building a good score but five smart Oceans run-outs left the coast club short of par on 136-7.

Oceans saw this off in just 11 of the 14 eight-ball overs, Sulman Asif hitting 65 not out.

Eaga Old Boys made 82-7 chasing 106-5 by Genetics with 33 from Jonny Bennett – although John Marshall took three Genetics wickets for 20.

The remaining Kirkwood-NE Tamils tie is delayed until May 24.

Division One leaders Kirkwood registered a comfortable win over Corinthians, who were dismissed for just 55.

Ratcatchers made 183-3 – Marcus Sewell hitting 107 not out – before a good effort by NE Tamils took them up to 160-7.

North Star’s 103-7 was good enough to hold off 2017 champions Blue Flames, who fell short on 82-8 – Abu Baker taking 4-20.

Cramlington lead Division Two after as Danny Craddock hit 96 not out and Harry McCabe 50 not out to reach 156-0 and overhaul the Main’s 155-1 – Anthony Hornby posting an undefeated 100.

Matrics Barbarians beat Genetics as Steve Hilton claimed four wickets in five balls – including a hat-trick – for figures of 5-29.

Northern Rangers amassed 187-5 before dismissing Barbarians for 106.

Merz and McLellan eased to victory over West End, Ben O’Brien claiming 4-18.
