Aveika Toon diners’ favourite place to eat

-

NINE venues were in the running but it was Aveika that triumphed to be named the Best Restaurant in Newcastle at the British Restaurant Awards on Thursday night.

The British Restaurant Awards is an annual ceremony which provides an opportunity for customers to nominate and vote for their Best Restaurants, chefs and culinary service in the UK.

From January 20-April 23, readers of Chelsea Monthly magazine, The National Post, Luxury Weekly, and viewers of VooVix.com were given the opportunity to nominate their favourite restaurants per city, region and throughout the UK.

The restaurants who receive the most nominations were shortlisted and then put up for the public vote to decide the winner.

There were accolades for the Best Restaurant in many UK cities, including Newcastle, and it is the team at Aveika, a contemporary Asian restaurant and late night bar on the Quayside, who are coming back to Tyneside with the award for Best Restaurant in Newcastle.

Other restaurants in the running were: Peace and Loaf; Artisan; Blackfriars Restaurant; Luigikhan’s; Fuego at Fenwick; The Broad Chare; Harissa and Marco Pierre White Steakhouse.

Speaking to the Chronicle after the award win, a spokesperson for Gainford Group, who owns Aveika, said: “Aveika are thrilled to have won this award and would like to thank our wonderful customers for their continued support and all of the staff for their hard work.”
