Tragedy to miss Steps

-

IF you’re a fan of a certain pop group, get ready to ‘stomp’ all night and turn a ‘deeper shade of blue’ as they’ve just been confirmed to headline a pop extravaganza in Newcastle.

Steps have been revealed as the headlining act for Geordie Moor’s The Launch Party on Friday, July 20.

Taking place in Nuns Moor Park, the concert under a huge big top will kick-start Newcastle Pride celebrations, with Jessie J and Nadine Coyle lined up to entertain on the Saturday night.

Steps rose to fame in the late 90s thanks to hits like 5,6,7,8, One For Sorrow and their massive number 1 Tragedy, complete with its dance routine!

They made a triumphant return to the charts last year with epic pop banger Scared of The Dark and album Tears on The Dancefloor. They are currently at the start of their outdoor summer tour, which includes a concert in Darlington, but all roads will soon lead to Newcastle where they will b e supported by Vengaboys, who are of course known for hits like We Like To Party, We’re Going To Ibiza and Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom. Although the event is organised separately to Newcastle Pride, the night will act as the launch for the festival weekend – which takes place July 20 - 22, with some of the proceeds from ticket sales going to LGBT charity Northern Pride. A spokesperson for Geordie Moor said: “We are absolutely delighted to finally reveal that the superstar pop group we have been keeping a secret all this time is Steps. “The group are amazing performers with a fantastic array of feel-good songs

Other options are Golden Circle tickets at £60 with guaranteed best views and VIP tickets at £80 which include a private marquee, bar and garden area on a raised viewing platform.

On Thursday, July 19, the Geordie Proms will start the whole weekend off and feature star vocalists Rozalla and Sonique.
