Clash of the top two proves to be tie of the week

TWO of the top teams in a very interestin­g Division One ended up playing a tie - Kirkwood and Blue Flames scoring 135-6.

Top run-getters were Jaswinder Singh with 40 and Kamran Mansoor with 47.

North Star took only 8.4 overs to win after dismissing NE Tamils for just 61, Balal Baig taking 4-18 and Abu Baker 4-13.

Oceans made 116-3 thanks to 59 from Sandeep to better 1112-5 from Ratcatcher­s - made up of 50 from Chris Fowler..

Oceans then needed only 9.3 overs for their reply of 94-3 after holding Civil Service to 93-9 in 12 overs - F Hussain claiming 5-23.

Corinthian­s recorded their first victory of the season, reaching 132-2 with an over to spare to overcome Civil Service, who had amassed 129-6 in 12 overs.

In Division Two, no team now has a 100% record with Northern Rangers and Cramlingto­n joint leaders.

Rangers 128-5 (Emdad 39) beat West End 124-5 (Amer 55) with a last- ball boundary while Genetics posted 120-3 before holding Merz and McLellan to 106-4 - despite 44 from Roy Haygarth.

Sparta made it four wins in four to lead Division Three when they beat Tynemouth Bad Boys.

There were big wins for Whitley Bay over Parkhouse - thanks to 93 from Varun Goyal - and High Stables over Bates Cottages, Dan Keegan scoring 63 not out.

Roseworth Bulls also made it four out of four to lead Division Four when they saw off Hezham Leazes and Belmont E.
