BLAGDON Park stayed top after their comfortabl­e eight-wicket home win over Berwick.

The Borders side started the day in second.

Third-placed Warkworth were thankful to Adam Hall for helping them to a 19-run success over Backworth.

Hall ended up 98 not out, smashing 10 fours and three sixes, and, with Ian Clough (32), rescued Warkworth as they eventually reached 174-9.

Scott Shannon was pick of the Backworth bowlers with 3-17.

In reply, Paul Robson top-scored with 30 but Backworth lost all their wickets for 155 - Michael Renfrey claiming 5-42 and Hall 2-48.

GEMs moved into fourth after their five-wicket result at home to Bomarsund.

Colin Thornton (66) and Stephen Thain (47) helped Bomar post 194-7 - Ahmed Javed claiming 4-54.

GEMS lost three quick wickets before Javed Mirza contribute­d 69 and Faizaan Ahmed 35.

Omer Hussain (45 not out) and Tabashir Alam (30 not out) safely steered GEMs to 197-5 - pushing Bomarsund into the bottom two.
