Victory over neighbours is a real Blast for Hetton Lyons
HETTON Lyons Heat defeated Eppleton Royals by 28 runs in the Under-19s’ T20 Vitality Blast, writes SAM BLACKLOCK.
Eppleton skipper Joe Blacklock won the toss and elected to field - his side succeeding in restricting its Hetton neighbours to 127-6.
Vaibhav Tiwari top-scored with an unbeaten 53-ball 50, backed by 17 from Callan Salkeld.
Daniel Stephenson took 2-13 while Reay, Wardle and Pratt all grabbed wickets for the Church Road side.
In reply, Eppleton could only manage 99 all out in 19.3 overs.
Stephenson top-scored with 22 along with 16 from Blacklock - Josh Bell the pick of the Lyons’ bowlers with 3-21 from his three overs.
Sacriston edged home by just one run against Chester-le-Street.
Batting first, Sacriston posted 110-9 from 20 overs as Matthew Brown smashed 54 from 45 balls.
Josh Lowes was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 14 as Liam Burgess recorded figures of 3-11 from four overs.
Ollie Barrett then bagged 2-27 in reply.
Josh O’Brien offered hope for Street - but once he fell, the Cestrians struggled despite an unbeaten 30 from Thomas Cullen and Sacriston eventually came out on top.
Boldon outgunned Whiteleas and Harton by 63 runs.
Joseph Maddison top-scored with 40 while the Boldon top order all contributed.
Nathan Hewitt added 34, along with 24 from Josephn Forster.
Ben Young picked up 2-23 as Boldon amassed 176-4 from 20 overs.
