All’s fair in love and warpaint

LOVE ISLAND ITV2, 9pm

FOR devoted fans, today’s the day they’ve been couting down to for months. The day they opt to surrender their evening viewing for the next eight weeks, and prepare to become more invested in the love lives and relationships of a bunch of complete strangers than they are in their own.

Yep, Love Island is back. And 11 new contestants will be heading into the villa, in the hopes of finding love. Or of raising their public profile, bagging half a million Instagram followers, a few magazine spreads and This Morning appearances and a load of lucrative sponsorship deals. Cynical, us? As usual, there are more spray tans, six packs, tattoos, fake lashes and hair extensions than you can shake a water bottle at.

The line-up for this fourth series includes an air hostess, a personal trainer, a couple of models, an electrical engineer, a West End performer and an A&E doctor. Oh, and Danny Dyer’s daughter, also called Dani Dyer.

Woe betide any muppet who mugs her off on national TV, with her hardman dad watching.

Host Caroline Flack is back to bring us all the juicy goings-on from inside the luxury villa, as the contestants try to couple up and find their perfect match – and avoid being sent home, loveless and single, with their tail between their perfectly tanned, sculpted and hairless legs.

As usual, there will be a whole load of twists and surprises in store for the gorgeous gang, and a comedy voice-over from Scottish funnyman Iain Stirling.

?? ?? As ever, Caroline Flack will be expertly piloting us through the show’s romantic turbulence
