EXPLORER HONOURED

ANTARCTIC explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton is the latest British tail fin hero to feature on a Norwegian Dreamliner.

He’s the latest famous UK figure on one of the low-cost carrier’s long-haul Boeing 787 jets, following Robert Burns, Freddie Mercury, Jane Austen, Bobby Moore, Roald Dahl, Amy Johnson and Sir Freddie Laker.

Sir Ernest, born in what was then British Ireland in 1874, led three expeditions to the Antarctic, including the heroic Endurance one in 1914-16 where he organised the epic rescue of members of his team stranded on a remote island.
