Mansoor on fire as Flames too hot for Tamils

BLUE Flames returned to winning ways in Division One by beating NE Tamils.

Flames amassed 158-2, Kamran Mansoor hitting 86 not out.

The Tamils were restricted to 152-5 despite 73 not out from Nish, Amjad Khan registerin­g 4-29.

Ratcatches posted 141-4 – Mellows hitting 70 – and then limited leaders North Star to 124-7 and inflicted on them their first defeat of the season.

Oceans and Corinthian­s played out a tie, Corinthian­s hitting a boundary to level the scores off the last ball. Northern Rangers and Genetics head Division Two after they both won.

Genetics dismissed West End for 64 to win by nine wickets.

Rangers used 11 overs to overcome the 127-6 posted by The Main, Romiz taking 4-30, to win by six wickets.

In Division Three there is no holding back Sparta.

They are clear leaders after winning their fifth game of the summer – beating Parkhouse. Jim Ellis starred again, taking 5-26 for Sparta.

Whitley Bay put Mitford in to bat and held them to 112-7 before Mark Harris (55 not out) and Tom Wilcox (49 not out) saw them comfortabl­y home by nine wickets with two overs to spare.

Bates Cottages (130-7) were too strong for Matfen Hall, who were dismissed for just 76.

Tom Seymour (62) helped Division Four leaders Roseworth Bulls to 170-8 and a comfortabl­e win over Oddfellows (90-3).
