Toon hope for Blue’s selling spree

before he was sent out on loan to Hellas Verona.

But Aarons started just six games, and made five substitute appearances, without scoring a goal or providing an assist as Verona were relegated after finishing second-bottom of Serie A.

It is understood that Benitez has spoken with the 22-yearold before about his work ethic and focus, but the suggestions are that Aarons is yet to prove to the manager that he has changed and matured.

But, if Benitez fails to bring Kenedy or another winger to Tyneside this summer, then the 22-year-old will have a real opportunity to relaunch his Magpies career during pre-season.

Perhaps the most likely of the seven to ‘do a Gouffran,’ should Newcastle fail to sign a new winger. This is a hugely-important season in terms of his career as a whole.

The 26-year-old appeared destined to depart earlier this month after agreeing a contract with Anderlecht - but the Belgian club failed to negotiate a fee with Newcastle, and their sporting director has all but stated the transfer is off.

That is despite a successful loan spell at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium last term, during which Sels appeared in the Champions League group stages.

With Dubravka having joined Newcastle on a permanent NEWCASTLE United will hope to take advantage of Chelsea’s need to raise cash in order for the Blues to strengthen their own squad this summer.

According to The Express, Chelsea will embark upon a £140million summer spending spree – something the club will then need to offset with “several high-profile sales”.

Striker Alvaro Morata, forward Willian, fullback Davide Zappacosta, defender David Luiz and midfielder Danny Drinkwater are all basis, Belgium international Sels now finds himself as fourth-choice goalkeeper at best - although the reality is he is probably behind Freddie Woodman in the pecking order too.

It’s unlikely Sels will force his way back into the first-team fold, but Newcastle may be forced to loan the goalkeeper out again if they cannot achieve a permanent sale.

Of all the signings Benitez has made during his tenure at St James’ Park, Lazaar is arguably the least successful of them.

The 26-year-old barely featured during the Championship-winning named as players the Blues will attempt to offload. However, it is understood that Newcastle target Kenedy is another player who Chelsea view as one of their mostsaleable assets.

Rafa Benitez has made it clear to Chelsea that he wants to sign a player on loan from the Blues for the third season in succession, but a permanent move for Kenedy is not entirely out of the question.

The 22-year-old is valued at around £20m. campaign, before being loaned out to Benevento last season having only made a substitute appearance in the League Cup for United. Out in Italy, Lazaar started only six games before he was left out of a Benevento squad which was relegated from Serie A. But, with Jesus Gamez and Massadio Haidara having already confirmed their exits, Newcastle are going to be short at full-back which could yet hand Lazaar an unlikely second chance. Achraf Lazaar Newcastle will sell if they can, probably having taken a substantial financial hit on Lazaar, but he does have a chance of earning a place in the squad due to Gamez and Haidara’s exits. That would merely be as back up, however, rather than as a starter.

The 28-year-old does not have a future at Newcastle - and Benitez is annoyed that he remains on the club’s books at all, having told the midfielder more than 12 months ago he was no longer part of United’s plans.

Colback received loan offers last summer but did not find any attractive enough, before he finally secured a temporary move to Nottingham Forest in January. He then alleged Benitez had treated him like a “number rather than a human being”.

There is no way back for Colback. Even if he isn’t sold or sent out on loan this summer, he will not be reintegrated into the first-team squad.
