Boldon seal easy victory over visitors

BOLDON defeated visitors Leadgate by eight wickets in the Durham Cricket Board Under-18 League’s Tyneside Division.

Leadgate won the toss and batted first, scoring 87-7 with Ross Pearson making 48 not out.

Boldon reached 88-2 after just 14.4 overs, opening duo Paul McCarthy Junior (34) and Josh Burke (24) putting on 66 runs for the first wicket.

Burnopfiel­d batted first in their home league match against Shotley Bridge and amassed 97-6 - Jack Rowley taking 2-10.

Shotley fell just short of the target, ending up 86-9 - meaning Burnopfiel­d won by 11 runs, despite Jack Thorpe hitting 30.

Greenside took on Whickham and, batting first, racked up 126-4 - Andrew Mawson contributi­ng a respectabl­e 48.

Whickham replied with 92-9, the bulk of their runs coming from Louis Colling (39) and Matty King (25), while bowlers Dylan Murray, Alex Cox and Sam Madine took two wickets each.

Consett coneded their fixture at Lanchester, as did Lintz at Stocksfiel­d. ■■SUNDERLAND overcame neighbours Washington by nine wickets in Group One of the Fred Blunt Trophy.

Washington batted first and were 55 all out, Joseph Stuart taking 3-13 and Joe Defty, Callum Hutchinson and Jamie Hair capturing two wickets each.

Sunderland reached their target after only 6.4 overs for the loss of just one wicket, Joseph Stuart hitting 32 not out. ■■EVENWOOD are through to the final of the Bob Hay Memorial Trophy after beating Tudhoe at home by 27 runs.

Evenwood’s Thomas Teesdale Junior contribute­d 57 runs, which helped seal the win.

Tudhoe gave it their best shot but posted just 109-2 before the overs ran out.

Mainsforth joined Evenwood in the final as they triumphed against Willington by eight wickets.

Willington batted first and notched 112-4, opening batsman Lachlan Marron making 59 not out and bowler Daniel Smith taking 3-32.

Mainsforth replied with 115-2 to secure the victory in the final over thanks to contributi­ons from Lewis Jowett (20), Adam Thirlaway (24) and Daniel Smith (38 not out).
