Younger has a fine all-round game for Bed

BEDLINGTON cut Leadgate’s lead at the top after securing a ninewicket victory at Bates Cottages.

Chris Younger (3-20) and Majid Ansari (3-16) helped bowl out their hosts for only 105. Ross Atkinson top-scored with 40.

Bedlington required only 13 overs to reach 110-1, opener Younger smashing eight fours and three sixes in an unbeaten 58.

Kaidin Jackson was 36 not out after hitting five fours and a six.

Leadgate stay top by three points after scraping past lowly Alnwick by two wickets.

Max Harrison made 40 before the visitors were bowled out for 146, Joe Banks with figures of 4-30 and Harry Lovell 3-26.

Lee Innes saw Leadgate home after they slipped to 91-6.

He ended up 43 not out as the leaders reached 147-8 despite Jamie Guy claiming 4-26.

Annfield Plain climbed to third courtesy of a 110-run success at home against Tillside.

Sam Stephenson hit 13 fours and a six in his 105 while David Baxter smashed seven fours and six sixes in a quickfire 98 as Plain amassed 267-3.

Tillside openers Ross Hindmarsh and Sean Wales both scored 44 before their side slumped to 157 all out.

Morpeth suffered another defeat as they went down at home to Seaton Burn by 17 runs.

Openers Modussar Ali (41) and Joshua Myburgh (54) gave Seaton Burn a good start before James Craigs (3-44) and David Rutherford (3-38) fought back to bowl out their visitors for 180.

Rutherford then contribute­d 69 and opener Paul Johnston 35 - but they lacked support as Morpeth were all out for 163. Andrew White registered figures of 3-18.

Bottom side Blyth lost at home to Cowgate by 33 runs.

Opener Pankaj Bedi notched 55 and Ahtsham Mehmood finished 41 not out as Cowgate posted 203-9.

Craig Smith (67) and Andrew Ebdale (39) put on 94 for the third wicket - but from 130-2 Blyth slumped to 170 all out as Jaswinder Singh claimed 5-59 and Asad Ali 3-32.
