Home team wastes no time in securing a league win against Blaydon

BLAYDON visited Tynedale in the Durham Cricket Board Under-18 Division’s Tyneside League.

They won the toss and elected to bat first reaching 66-4 at the end of their allocated 20 overs.

That total proved not enough, however, as Tynedale rattled up 72-0 from only 5.5 overs.

Shotley Bridge’s clash with Stocksfiel­d was abandoned due to rain while Consett conceded their game against Greenside.

In Division One, Sacriston won their home match against Chester-le-Street.

The Cestrians posted 104-6, Ollie Barrett scoring 54 not out and Ellis Horner taking 2-23.

Sacriston ended up 108-4, their runs coming from Callum Dodds (23), Charlie Winn (22 not out) and Tommy Bell (20 not out).

Ryhope visited Peterlee in Division Two. Batting first, Ryhope made 94-6 - opening batsman and captain Jake Liddle with 62 of their runs.

Peterlee were close to attaining their target but only managed to reach 86-9 - bowlers Sam Eaves and Shanwin James both taking three wickets each.

Felling welcomed Whitburn and scored 84-5 thanks to 49 from Kieron Gilmore - Amy Hearn claiming an excellent 3-12 from her four overs.

Whitburn notched 63-1 to win the game by a higher run rate as the weather set in.

Ben Markham contribute­d 33 not out from 41 balls - including five fours.

In the South West League, Mainsforth visited Brandon and triumphed by seven wickets.

Brandon batted first and totalled 61-9, Mainsforth bowler Lewis Jowett taking 3-6.

Mainsforth won the game after only 7.4 overs as they reached 67-3, opening batsman Issac Marron 31 not out.

Crook conceded their match with Willington.
