Whickham’s defeat at Warkworth not a top result

WHICKHAM lost top spot after losing at Warkworth by 39 runs.

Matthew Rodger took 7-18 as Warkworth posted 130, only Keith Douglas resisting with 48.

The hosts defended their score, however, as Martin Clark claimed 7-21 and Michael Renfrey finished with 3-10 the duo bowling Whickham out for only 91 in reply.

Blagdon Park moved back to the top after triumphing at GEMs by 49 runs.

Mark Foster made an unbeaten 69 while Cameron Hedgeley, in at No 9, smashed five fours and sixes to end on 53 not out as Blagdon posted 211-7.

The Chopwell side replied with 162, leaving David Gibson with 3-35 and Matthew Senior 3-20.

Backworth prevailed at home against Whitley Bay by 96 runs.

Chris Liddle made 68 before the hosts were bowled out for 229.

The bottom side was then dismissed for 133 in reply.

Blue Flames came through by 96 runs at home against Benwell and Walbottle.

Abubakar Maqsood notched 121 and Yasir Baig 57 as the hosts posted 301-7.

Opener Nick Tomlinson hit 67 and Stephen Reed 55 - but the visitors fell short on 207.

Bomarsund stayed in relegation trouble after losing at Corbridge by 68 runs.

Dan Owen struck 52 as Corbridge reached 212-9. Bomarsund were then bowled out for 144 in their reply.
