NEW APARTMENTS WITH STUNNING VIEWS ON SALE

- By SONIA SHARMA Reporter sonia.sharma@reachplc.com

THESE pictures show what a new set of riverside apartments will look like inside – as well as the stunning views of the Tyne their owners will enjoy.

The Smokehouses are being built at Smith’s Dock in North Shields, under a scheme led by Places for People and Urban Splash.

They will consist of 80 apartments across two buildings and retail units on the ground floors.

The work, which started last year, is helping to transform the former shipyard site.

Now these images have been released as the developers launch the next phase of apartments for sale.

The Smokehouses will have a mixture of one, two and three-bedroom homes, with prices from £125,000. They will be ready early next year. Guy Ackernley, director of residential sales at Urban Splash, said: “Since we launched the first Smokehouses for sale a couple of months ago, we’ve had such a flurry of interest from people who want great design in a great location. “We’ve decided therefore to release these new homes in the second building now, with a great starting price point and Help to Buy available – which will assist eligible buyers with their purchase. “We feel that it’s the right time to allow people another chance to move into this growing community.” The Smokehouses, designed by architects Simpson Haugh, are just one part of the Smith’s Dock development.

There are also three-storey townhouses on a site called the Plateau, which are now complete and fully sold. Nearby, 10 homes designed by TV architect George Clarke were put up for sale earlier this year.

The area will ultimately have around 800 homes, and the riverside will be opened up to provide a direct link between the Fish Quay and Royal Quays.

Nigel Brewer, of Places for People, said: “Smith’s Dock is such an important regeneration scheme and I am delighted to see the increasing number of launch events we’re hosting as more buildings and homes come to fruition at this site.

“We’re working really hard to create a fantastic new community – albeit one that’s very deeply connected to the heritage of the original Smith’s Dock – and welcome more residents as they move here.”
