UNSUNG heros from across the North East will once again be celebrated as our Chronicle Champion Awards returns.

And we need your help to honour the region’s bravest and most selfless people who work tirelessly to make their community a better place.

Each year, members of the public put forward their nominations and the winners are presented with their accolades at a glittering ceremony later in the year.

But, to celebrate the North East’s unsung heroes, we need you to tell us who they are.

We hear numerous uplifting stories about people showing outstanding courage in difficult circumstances; those who put others before themselves; heroes who work tirelessly to make their community a better place; and those who silently go the extra mile.

One of last year’s winners was brave Kian Musgrove.

Earlier this year, the six-year-old arrived back in Prudhoe, North-

umberland, from New York, where he underwent pioneering treatment for neuroblastoma.

Generous Geordies, along with others across the world, have raised more than £600,000 to send the schoolboy for pioneering treatment in the US.

We are once again urging our readers to nominate people who deserve recognition.

There are 11 categories with accolades for heroes of all ages.

Helen Dalby, The Chronicle and Chroniclelive’s senior editor and head of digital North East, said: “Chronicle Champions is a very special event and one that’s close to the hearts of all of our team.

“It’s our chance to recognise and reward the ordinary people who do extraordinary things. Every entrant has achieved something remarkable, and it’s a privilege to tell their stories.

“We’re looking forward to sharing uplifting and inspiring stories with our readers over the coming months, so please tell us about the everyday heroes in your community who make a difference.

“Through Chronicle Champions, we can celebrate their efforts and thank them for making the North East very proud.”
