Freddie ready to wait and see what season holds for him
WOODMAN UNSURE OF NEXT MOVE AS FIVE KEEPERS FIGHT FOR THE NUMBER ONE JERSEY
FREDDIE Woodman will wait until later in pre-season to see what his next move is after returning to first-team training with Newcastle United.
The England Under-21 international spent the second half of last term on loan at Aberdeen but is now back in the mix with the Magpies alongside Martin Dubravka, Karl Darlow, Rob Elliot and Matz Sels.
Sels is also back at the club after failing to get a move to Anderlecht earlier in the summer meaning there is currently a five-man fight to get game-time in pre-season.
It is a situation that is surely unmanageable with one of United’s goalkeepers certain to go out on loan before the window shuts.
Speaking from Ireland, Woodman said: “It’s really strong. There’s five of us now in the goalkeeping department since Martin came in.
“He obviously did really well last season.
“I watched the games up in Scotland, and he made some really good performances.”
Woodman is believed to be wanted by a number of League One and Championship clubs while Kilmarnock would also love to have him back for the 2018/19 season.
For now, Woodman is using the next couple of weeks to learn as much as he can from his senior colleagues.
The Croydon-born goalie, talking to the club’s TV channel, said: “The other lads are really good as well – Karl and Rob – and obviously Matz has done well over in Belgium (with loan club Anderlecht). It’s really good.
“It’s good to train with these guys
