50 Cent gig attacker is sent to prison

-

A GIG-goer spared prison for attacking fans at a concert by rap star 50 Cent has now been jailed.

Alexander McHugh headbutted a man and bit a 16-year-old on the cheek during a show in Newcastle, forcing the world famous hip hop star to appeal for calm.

Last year, McHugh was given a suspended prison sentence for the attack after admitting wounding and assault at Newcastle Arena in November 2015.

But he has blown his chance of staying out of prison by pouring petrol on his girlfriend’s mother’s car during a row.

Now the 20-year-old dad-to-be is behind bars after 15 months of the suspended sentence was activated for breaching it, plus another month for the car attack.

Newcastle Crown Court heard it was while on the suspended sentence, in May, that McHugh fell out with his pregnant girlfriend and turned up at her home asking if the baby was his and warned he would “slit her throat” if it was not.

During an angry confrontation at her home the following day, McHugh poured petrol over her mother’s car, which resulted in the fire service having to hose the vehicle down to make it safe.

His former partner told police she was “hurt, angry and upset” by what happened. McHugh pleaded guilty to a public order offence.

Judge Simon Batiste told him: “The time has come that only an immediate custodial sentence can be justified.”

Lee Fish, defending, said McHugh was not carrying a lighter and had no way of actually setting fire to the car.” Mr Fish said McHugh, of Runnymeade Road, Sunderland, who had breached the suspended sentence order once before, would comply with any future order if given “just one last chance” and that alcohol was the “key factor” in his bad behaviour.
