New league season just month away

THE 2018-19 Northern Alliance League season is ready to kick off next month.

Cup draws have already made and the league’s constituti­on for the new season is also in place following the recent members’ meeting at the Blue Flames Sporting Club.

The Bay Plastics Premier Division, with Birtley Town having gained promotion from the Northern League, will be made up of 16 clubs.

They are AFC Killingwor­th, AFC Newbiggin, Alnwick Town, FC United of Newcastle, Gateshead A, Gateshead Rutherford, Newcastle Blue Star, Newcastle Chemfica, Newcastle University, North Shields Athletic, Percy Main Amateurs, Ponteland United, Seaton Delaval, Shankhouse, Wallington and Whitley Bay A.

Division One, sponsored by Reeves Independen­t, will feature Bedlington, Blyth Spartans Reserves, Blyth Town, Cullercoat­s, Felling Magpies, Forest Hall, Gosforth Bohemians, Hebburn Town Under-23s, Hexham, Newcastle East End, Prudhoe YC Seniors, Red Row Welfare, Seaton Burn, Wallsend BC, Wallsend Community and Winlaton Vulcans.

Division Two, backed by Team Valley Carpets, kicks off with Blyth, Burradon, Coundon and Leeholme, Cramlingto­n Town, Cramlingto­n United, Ellington, Gateshead Redheugh, Jesmond, Rothbury, Seghill, Spittal Rovers, Stobswood Rovers, Whitburn and Cleadon, Whitley Bay Sporting Club, Wideopen and District and Willington Quay Saints. LEAGUE CUP - first round: Percy Main Ams vs. Forest Hall; Burradon vs. Gateshead A; Wideopen and District vs, Wallsend Boys Club; Cullercoat­s vs. Stobswood Welfare; Seaton Delaval vs. Seghill; Whitley Bay A vs. Winlaton Vulcans; Coundon and Leeholme vs. Ellington; Red Row Welfare vs. Shankhouse; Blyth Spartans Reserves vs. Cramlingto­n United; Gateshead Redheugh vs. Rothbury; North Shields Athletic vs. Spittal Rovers; FC United of Newcastle vs. Newcastle Chemfica; Willington Quay Saints vs. Gateshead Rutherford; Killingwor­th vs. Newcastle Blue Star; Whitburn and Cleadon vs. Hexham; Wallington vs. Gosforth Bohemians.

All three divisions will experience derby action.

The Premier Division has Gateshead A versus Gateshead Rutherford and North Shields Athletic against Whitley Bay A.

In Division One, Blyth Spartans Reserves take on Blyth Town and Wallsend Boys Club face Wallsend Community, while in Division Two Cramlingto­n Town meet Cramlingto­n United.

The opening weekend of the new season will be on Saturday, August 11.
