- By SIMON DUKE

IT’S always one of the biggest attractions of Newcastle Pride and the annual Pride parade will be back as the event returns to the city this year.

Newcastle Pride 2018 will take place on Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22, with the main stage lineup including Alexandra Burke, Gareth Gates, the cast from cabaret club Boulevard and S Club.

But before any of them entertain, there is the small matter of the Parade.

And if you want to take part or spectate here is a guide...

WHEN IS THE NEWCASTLE PRIDE PARADE?

This year’s parade will take place on Saturday, July 21.

WHAT TIME DOES IT IT START?

The parade will leave Newcastle Civic Centre on Ceremonial Way at 12pm on Saturday. Anyone wishing to take part is being asked to gather there from 11.30am.

It will then set off down Northumberland Street.

It will then turn on to Blackett Street, along Percy Street before heading towards Nuns Moor Park.

IS IT FREE TO MARCH?

Yes and after getting record attendances the past two years, organisers are hoping this year’s will be the biggest to date.

IS THERE A THEME?

This year’s theme is 40 years of the Pride Flag.

Using the iconic colours used by Gilbert Baker in the original Pride Flag everyone is encouraged to dress as outrageously as possible.
