No Magpies swoop for Swans striker

-

SWANSEA City say they have received no contact from Newcastle United over the availability of striker Andre Ayew.

The Ghanaian is reportedly the subject of interest from Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez this summer as he looks to kick on at St James’ Park.

The Spaniard is keen to add to his attacking options ahead of the new campaign, with Ayew on the club’s radar, according to reports.

Our colleagues at WalesOnline understand there’s been no inquiry made by the North East club.

But, as reportedly previously, interest from Turkey and specifically Besiktas remains real and dialogue is open.

A season-long loan offer is on the table for the former West Ham man, who failed to hit his straps on his return to South Wales.

Club-record signing Ayew didn’t trouble the scoring charts following his £18million move back to the Liberty in January, and he could not prevent Swansea’s relegation from the top flight.

Ayew (pictured) featured for Swansea in their pre-season friendly against Yeovil last week, coming on as a second-half substitute.

It was last month that a spokesman for Ayew, Fiifi Tackie, revealed that the 28-year-old’s future would be sorted imminently.

He told Goal.com: “With Andre, I’m sure that in few days to come, you will get to know where he will be leaving to [for the new season].”

Clarity failed to materialise, but Turkey seems the likeliest destination at present.

Graham Potter’s squad head to Austria and Germany this week as they step up their pre-season preparations.
