Washington tamed by a pride of Lyons

HETTON Lyons cruised to an 82-run victory over Washington in the Durham Cricket Board Junior League’s Under-15 Division.

After winning the toss, the Lyons posted a formidable score of 172-3 from 20 overs.

Ryan O’Connor led the way with an unbeaten 53 from 41 balls backed by 39 from Josh Bell.

Taylor Vout (22) and Luke Husband (21) contribute­d to the Hetton side’s total.

In reply, Washington could only manage 90 - losing five wickets in the process.

Thomas Lander (34) and Kieran Bennet (24) top-scored for Washington.

South Shields took the honours at Church Road with a 70-run victory over Eppleton.

South Shields elected to bat after winning the toss and totalled 165-5 from 20 overs, Ben Scott top-scoring with 50 backed by 26 from Matthew Sheppard at No 7.

Adam Welch picked up 3-34 for Eppleton while Paul Lawson and Edward Brown both picked up one wicket each.

Ryhope overcame Sacriston by seven wickets in their home fixture.

Alfie McKie scored 36 for Sacriston after they reached 115-5 from 20 overs having been inserted into bat.

Harry Iveson then added 51 at No 4 to give Sacriston hope.

However, the Ryhope batters all contributi­ed as they chased down 117 in 19.3 overs, Spencer White (26 not out), Joe Errington (24), Jonathan Waterson (22) and Joseph Cowie (22) leading the way.

BEAMISH and East Stanley sealed a seven-wicket win over Blaydon in the Durham Cricket Board Junior League’s Tyneside Division.

Blaydon batted their full 20 overs without losing a wicket as Daniel Pollard (51) and Joe Underwood (22) both carried their bats as they posted 73-0 from 20 overs.

Despite two early run-outs for Blaydon, Beamish were victorious in 16.2 overs as Harry Barret and Alfie Metcalfe both hit 27.

A 54-ball half-century from Ross Whitfield, supported by 20 from Joe Barron, proved a match-winning innings as Greenside were too strong for Shotley Bridge.

The Ryton side amassed 112-6 from 20 overs as Jacob Rowley (2/14), Logan Barton and Max Hamilton all struck for Bridge.

Greenside ‘s bowlers were just too strong for Shotley with Barton (39) with four fours and two sixes - being the only batsman to show any resistance as they were bowled out for 77 in 19.2 overs. Whitfield bagged 3-21, while Nick Shaw and J Morton both claimed two wickets.

Lanchester blew away Lintz in a one-sided affair at Ashley Park.

Lanchester batted first, amassing 145-7 in 20 overs as Simon Kilme top-scored with 42.

Middlemast (3-28) was the pick of the bowlers for Lintz.

Lintz were bowled out for 34 in 9.5 overs as McPhail (2-1) and Ethan Connelly (2-1) both struck.

EPPLETON Under-15s edged home by three runs against Boldon to set up a home semi-final against South Shields in the Glenn Robinson Memorial Trophy.

Boldon won the toss and inserted the Hetton side, 25 from Jake Pratt in 24 balls the only resistance as they were 82 all out in 19.4 overs.

Jacob McCord (4-16) and Tom Siddle (3-14) shone for Boldon.

Ethan Elsworth top-scored for the Sunderland Road side with 21 from 30 balls but once he departed Boldon struggled against the tight bowling of Lawson (2-8) and Pratt (2-16) and could not find three runs off the last ball, being all out for 79.
