Indoor play with a sunshine theme

-

PARENTS who won’t have a chance to get to the beach this summer can take their children along to the next best thing: an indoor seaside.

An Artventurers Beach Party is to take place at Gateshead Central Library in August and it’s out to capture the summer vibe.

And the best bit is that the youngsters attending the party – aimed at those aged from just six months to five years – face no risk of getting burned in a summer sorcher. Nevertheless, families can don their sunglasses and bring a bucket and spade.

The library’s Caedmon Hall – which is fully accessible – will host the full-on seaside-themed party hour which will include painting, collage, modelling, craft activities and some pretty messy play.

There are three party sessions taking place on August 7 at 9.30am, 11am and 1pm.

The cost is £6 and tickets only need to be booked for children. Call Rachel Horton on 0191 433 8429, email gateshead live@ gates head. gov.uk or book here .

And, in keeping with a seaside theme, another event is taking place in Gateshead this August.

This time it will be the turn of St Mary’s Heritage Centre to host Under the Sea Adventures.

Families are invited to drop in between 10am and 1pm on August 16 and 23 to enjoy some “creative commotion in the ocean”, at a cost of £2 a child.
