Injured man ‘fell out of window after stabbing’

AN injured man fell out of an upstairs window onto the street after he had been stabbed.

Police and paramedics were called to Walker Road in Walker, Newcastle just after 8pm on Saturday.

A 33-year-old man was found injured outside the takeaway and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle by ambulance.

The man had injuries believed to have been caused by a stabbing, and a head injury caused by a fall from an upstairs window.

It is believed the fall happened after the man was stabbed inside the property.

A 48-year-old man has now been arrested but an investigat­ion is ongoing.

Officers put a police cordon in place to secure the scene late on Saturday night.

A Northumbri­a Police spokespers­on said: “A 48-year-old man has been arrested following a report of an assault on Walker Road, Newcastle, shortly after 8pm last night.

“A male victim, 33, was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be consistent with a stabbing. They are not thought to be lifethreat­ening.

“Inquiries are ongoing. Anyone with informatio­n is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1122 180818.”

Paramedics were called to Walker Road at 7.50pm on Saturday and a North East Ambulance Service spokespers­on said they treated a man “suffering a head injury after apparently falling from an upstairs window”.
