Taylor haunts former club in Braves victory

BLYTH AFC top the table after they secured a 2-0 win at North Shields.

Former Robins winger Bobby Taylor came back to haunt his old club when he put the Braves ahead on six minutes and the win was all but secured by half-time when Michael Chilton doubled the lead five minutes before the interval.

Sunderland RCA became the latest victims of Dunston UTS’ impressive start to the season.

Scott Heslop put Dunston in front on 38 minutes but the game was turned on its head in the space of 10 second-half minutes as goals from Mark Davison and Dominic Moan put RCA in charge.

Jordan Nellis got Dunston level with 10 minutes left and they secured all three points thanks to Jake Stafford’s late penalty.

Goals from Warren Byrne and Paul Gardiner helped Seaham Red Star to a 2-1 win at Newton Aycliffe.

Shildon are in third after they won 3-2 at home to Newcastle Benfield. A brace from Benfield winger Dale Pearson went without reward as goals from Matty Robson, Ben Trotter and Jack Blackford gave Shildon a third win.

Hebburn Town were held to a 2-2 home draw by Stockton Town and a late Daniel Craggs goal helped Consett to a 1-0 win against Whickham.

Whitley Bay lost 2-0 home defeat to West Auckland Town.

Guisboroug­h Town secured a 2-1 win in a bad-tempered game at Ashington, and Bishop Auckland were in rampant form in their 5-2 win at home against Ryhope CW
