BURNOPFIEL­D motorcycle racer Chrissy Rouse could be forced to miss the next round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championsh­ip after a serious crash at Cadwell Park.

Rouse (pictured) had moved up from his 20th-place qualifying spot to 16th in the day’s first race when he hit the deck at the tight Hall Bends section of the Lincolnshi­re circuit - and ended up in the barriers.

He suffered a broken left hand, broken right wrist and concussion.

Rouse said: “I feel like things were starting to come together and after the highs of Brands Hatch, then the low of my Thruxton crash, this is just devastatin­g.” ■■KAMIL Leski, Sam Murphy and Joel Mukunka of Heaton-based Goju-Ryu Karate Academy missed out on medals at the Japanese Goju-kai Karate Championsh­ips.

However, Leski, 15, and Mukunka, 14, passed their black belts under a panel of Japanese and European master instructor­s. ■■THE North East Midweek Cricket League’s Cup and Plate finals will be staged at Percy Main CC on Sunday, September 8 after rain called off Sunday’s scheduled action. ■■SOUTH Northumber­land host Tynemouth tonight in Group A of the Dukes NEPL Third XI Twenty20 Cup. ■■ENGLAND Rugby’s Inner Warrior campaign is staging a trial session at Alnwick’s Winnington Park Rugby Club on Friday, Septmber 7 (6.15) for any women interested in taking up the game.
