Dunston are in top form against Star

-

DUNSTON UTS are top of the Northern League Division One table after their 3-1 home win over Seaham Red Star., writes MARK CARRUTHERS.

Lee Hetherington gave Red Star a surprise lead on 13 minutes but the hosts were back on level terms by half-time thanks to an own goal from Anthony Myers.

Two counters in seven minutes from Mark Fitzpatrick and Scott Heslop were enough to move Dunston to the top of the Division One table.

In Division Two, Washington’s wait for a league win goes on after they were condemned to a 3-1 defeat at West Allotment Celtic.

Rhyse Williams had fired Washington back on level-terms after Michael Baxter put the hosts in front.

However, another goal from Baxter and one from Dean Walker gave Celtic all three points.

A Michael Baxter brace and a single Dean Walker strike were enough to give Celtic all three points at Druid Park.

Heaton Stannington mounted a brave fightback but succumbed to a 3-2 defeat at Willington.

Finishes from Conor Winter, Robbie Shields and Nathan Plews had the hosts three ahead at halftime but the Stan got back into it thanks to a Jonathan Wright penalty and a Shane Jones effort.

However, despite late pressure, the hosts held on to claim the points.

Kerry Hedley hit a first-half hat-trick to put Northallerton Town on their way to a 4-0 home win over Brandon United.

Kurtis Howes and Daniel Chapman grabbed the goals as Thornaby secured a 2-0 home success against Birtley Town and Crook Town came from two goals down to snatch a late point in their 2-2 draw with Redcar Athletic.

Esh Winning and Bedlington Terriers shared the points in a thrilling 3-3 draw at West Terrace.
