ALL GEEK TO ME

THE LATEST GAMING, COMICS & TECH TRENDS

PEARL #1

AS COMIC launches go, this is a big one for writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos, as it marks their first new character since Jessica Jones.

The gorgeous looking new series follows the exploits of PEARL, a tattoo artist who becomes an accidental assassin for one of the modern-day San Francisco Yakuza. But when she meets her doppelgnger from another clan PEARL starts to dream of a better life.

Gaydos’ stunning artwork is unmistakable, and Bendis, arguably at the top of his game, has created a bold new character, and the beginnings of a dark and thrilling new journey.

Pearl #1, priced £3.35, is out now.

PRINCE OF POP!

PROVING once again that it has its finger on the pulse of cult, Funko has unveiled one of its latest lines – Prince. Due to land in November, the three figures show Prince in his Purple Rain phase, his ‘Third Eye Guy’ look (pictured) and in his unmistakable Around The World in a Day suit.

As ever, there’s also a chase figure – a glitter version of the Purple Rain figure, which will be exclusively available through American store FYE.

Priced, roughly from around £10.99, the figures are expected to be on sale from November 9.

BOURNE TO RUN

IT WAS an exceptional book trilogy (I refuse to acknowledge the Eric Van Lustbader additions) that sparked the Jason Bourne movies. It seems those movies have sparked a new show – which has been given a straightto-series by USA Network.

Treadstone, named after the fictional Operation Treadstone which created Bourne and other ‘super soldiers’, will explore the mythology surrounding the CIA black ops program.

It’s far, far too early to tell whether the Bourne character will appear in the series, which features Heroes creator Tim Kring as showrunner.

Production is set to begin next year, so it could be the following autumn before Treadstone airs.
