Jarrow on historic quest for FA Vase

THE Ebac Northern League’s quest to regain the FA Vase kicks off tonight.

Whickham go looking for their first win in any competitio­n this season tonight when they host Jarrow FC.

Jarrow joint-manager David Bell is looking forward to creating a little piece of club history as they make their first-ever appearance in the Vase.

He said: “We are really looking forward to this game as it represents a piece in our recent history as it is our first venture in the Vase.”

Jarrow have an injury doubt over captain Jordan Mellish but James Wilson and Paul Muir return to the squad.

Hebburn Town are one of the early favourites to win the Vase and they start their Road to Wembley with a visit to Eccleshill United.

Ian Chandler is steeped in Vase pedigree after winning the competitio­n once as a player and three times as a manager and he kicks off his attempts to win the competitio­n for a fifth time when his Bishop Auckland side entertain Newton Aycliffe.

Guisboroug­h Town and Bedlington Terriers face former Northern League opposition when they travel to Stokesley SC and Darlington RA.

Seaham Red Star are without striker Warren Byrne for their trip to Durham City and Ryhope CW could name new signing Jack Walker in their side for their game at Chester-le-Street Town.
