A table for you?

...WELL MAYBE IF YOU’RE A STING FAN

IF you’re a fan of Sting or his work with The Police you might be able to cop a bargain at an upcoming auction.

A table which once belonged to the Wallsend-born pop legend and wife Trudie Styler is going under the hammer.

And, while the multi-millionaire singer behind hits such as Roxanne and Message in A Bottle is known for owning plush houses around the world that are lavishly decorated, the item for sale is of a more humble nature.

It is a rectangular dining table of modern design but with some 19thcentury elements.

Its dimensions are, according to the John Pye auction house selling it, a modest 30 inches high, 99 inches long and 77 and a half inches wide. It is made of a beech planks on six turned pine legs. But it is not the couple selling it, as it comes from the administration of FABB Projects Limited, trading as FABB sofas.

Auction house spokesman Julian Roup said if it didn’t have the link to Sting and his wife, it could sell for a few hundred pounds. And it still might sell at a knock-down price.

He said: “It’s all about the fans of Sting and Trudie wanting to have something they used to own,” he said.

Singer Sting and Trudie, an actress, film producer, director and Unicef ambassador, have many homes all over the world it is not certain which home this table comes from.

As it is being sold with no reserve price, someone may find they have a bargain with a fascinating provenance.

Public viewing for this auction is being held in the Luxury room at John Pye’s premises at Marchington, Staffordshire, and all bidding takes place online.

The auction ends on September 14.
