TV cash should be used for players

TREVOR Uren from Durham

(Feedback August 31), hit the nail on the head while illustrating the turbulent times at Newcastle United.

If Benitez had any sense, he would sign a new contract now. Ashley is reported to have offered him one for five years, so he could use his”worldclass” experience to have regular meetings with Ashley, and sort out the mess.

That includes lack of firstclass training facilities, academy etc, etc.

It’s been said a million times, Ashley hasn’t got NUFC close to his heart. He can pay £90million for House of Fraser, then allow Benitez to make a profit from the summer transfer window, with hardly a penny piece spent on quality players.

If the Magpies are to fly high again, Ashley has to put in some money, and Rafa must have strong words with him. It’s been reported he has, but I don’t believe it. There’s no point everyone bleeting behind Ashley’s back, without him being confronted.

A fervent fan asked me where I thought the TV money had gone? I replied that I didn’t know, but I could guess!

He said it would be a good idea if the FA made a firm ruling that ALL TV money paid to clubs, should be spent on improving their squads.

Does Ashley really care, if we keep flirting with relegation? As long as there’s worldwide advertising via TV etc, for Sports Direct, then it’s job done.

No Mr Ashley, as a chairman - if that’s the right word - of a football club, who never attends a match, you’re a laughing stock, and in my opinion, sooner or later, you’ll come crashing down to earth.
