- By MARK CARRUTHERS

HEBBURN Town manager Scott Oliver believes his side’s game at Sunderland RCA will bring out the best in his players.

The Hornets are in second place in the Northern League Division One table and have impressed in high-profile fixtures this season.

Their hosts go into the game in fine form after wins at West Auckland Town and Newcastle Benfield – but Oliver is confident his side will again rise to the challenge.

He said: “It is an extremely tough game at RCA because they are in great form. I expect it to be a cracking game.

“I feel our lads enjoy the challenge of the big games, as they showed at Shildon, so I am looking forward to a very good game.

“We are keen to keep our run going and cement our place at the top end of the league.”

Oliver could hand a debut to former Whitley Bay goalkeeper Andrew Jennison and is boosted by the return of key duo Andrew Stephenson and Graeme Armstrong.

North Shields manager Marc Nash wants the Robins to continue their recent improvement when they travel to Stockton Town.

He said: “We have to keep going in the right direction.

“Two clean sheets in three games and three wins, things like that build confidence to go on runs – which is what we want to do.”

Nash has a full squad to choose from at the Coverall Stadium.

Ashington manager Steve Bowey is awaiting news on the fitness of Matthew Wade, Adam Rundle and Tony Stephenson ahead of the visit of Shildon.

Former United midfielder Matty Pattison could make his league debut for Whickham as they host Ryhope CW.

Division Two leaders Chester-le-Street Town are without injured striker Andrew Clarkson for their trip to Tow Law Town.

Heaton Stannington chairman James Colwill wants a big crowd for their home game against Bedlington Terriers.

He said: “We will be looking to build on last week’s excellent six points gained away from home.

“Hopefully we can get a good turn-out at Grounsell Park and repay them for their support.”

Birtley Town are without injured duo Martin Pattison and Michael Graver and the suspended Michael Dodds for their trip to Billingham Synthonia.
